What are the most common symptoms of a heart attack (myocardial ischemia or myocardial infarction)?

  • Uncomfortable pressure, fullness, squeezing, or pain in the center of the chest lasting several minutes.
  • Chest discomfort spreading to the shoulders, neck, one or both arms, or jaw
  • Chest discomfort spreading into the back or between the shoulder blades
  • Chest discomfort with lightheadedness, or fainting, sweating, or nausea 
  • Unexplained, sudden shortness of breath, which may occur with or without chest discomfort

What are the signs and symptoms of a stroke?

  • Sudden weakness or numbness of the face, arm, or the leg, especially on one side of the body
  • Sudden confusion
  • Trouble speaking or understanding
  • Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
  • Sudden trouble walking
  • Dizziness or loss of balance or coordination
  • Sudden severe headache with no known cause

What is Atrial Fibrillation?

Atrial Fibrillation is a chaotic, abnormal heart rhythm originating from the left atrium, upper chamber of the heart. Although atrial fibrillation can be present without symptoms, major symptoms may include:

  • shortness of breath
  • fatigue
  • dizziness
